My name is Doris and I am 9 years old. I live in Zambia and attend the Zambia-CDC program. . At home I like to read, help with cooking and wash the dishes. I also like netball and field events in athletics.
Each day, families in this community face poverty, food insecurity, low incomes, unemployment, and HIV and AIDS. This has left a large number of households and children in Zambia extremely vulnerable. Child development centers in Zambia daily address the symptoms and drivers of poverty, as well as the trauma many children experience as a result of HIV and AIDS. At this center, the children receive holistic care, which means they are cared for spiritually, educationally, nutritionally, and emotionally. Each day, they enjoy nutritious meals, receive assistance with homework, learn about the Bible, build relationships, play sports, perform drama, and sing together.
