My name is Camila and I am 6 years old. I live in Panama and attend the Panama-CDC program. I have 2 brothers. At home I like to sweep and wash the dishes. At church I like to learn from my teacher and study the Bible. I also like singing praises and painting.
This child development center in Panama works holistically in an area of the community where prostitution, drugs, broken families, illiteracy, and human trafficking are common problems. These conditions are made worse by the lack of general services in the area, which makes breaking the cycle of poverty even more difficult. The program supports educational success through tutors who assist with homework; spiritual heath and discipleship are nurtured with Bible studies. Physical well-being is enhanced with nutritious hot meals, served daily, and a variety of health services (vaccinations, health and dental checkups, and sanitation services). Emotional health is bolstered through fun recreational activities that promote relationship-building and social skills in a caring and welcoming atmosphere. Assistance and care extend beyond the children, focusing on ministry and transformation for the whole family and the whole community.
