This child development center in Mozambique serves an area struggling with high levels of illiteracy, malnutrition, poor sanitation, and inadequate access to latrines. The center is meeting the needs of children by providing holistic programming that includes nutritious meals three times a week, supporting physical health. These are supplemented by classes for mothers, teaching nutrition and meal preparation to help families benefit from healthier food choices. The center also assists children with homework assignments, and advocates for children to continue their schooling, as many in this community leave school at young ages because the fees are unattainable or attend only occasionally because they are helping their families. The goal is create a safe space for children to develop healthy and educated, influencing their communities for good.
